On macOS 14.2 and later, a native sidecar records mic and system audio. Other platforms use a renderer fallback. Whisper runs on the machine. Notes land in the vault. When you are signed in, evidence can be queued to the ledger.
Dual-track audio
Your microphone and the system audio are separate tracks, which is what makes speaker-aware notes possible later.
On-device transcription
Release builds stage per-architecture whisper-cli binaries. You can also point at a cloud engine if you want speed more than locality.
Questions
The desktop app ships there. Native capture is a macOS sidecar. Other operating systems use a fallback recorder, not the same low-level path.
